Noise Attenuation

Clearing out the clutter is vital. Geotrace’s powerful noise attenuation techniques form the basis of our successful land and marine preprocessing operations. We’ve developed innovative, efficient methods to handle a multitude of coherent and incoherent noises, including seismic interference, swell noise, ground roll and more. These methods provide the best of all possible worlds—eliminating troublesome noise while retaining as much valuable information as possible.

Time Frequency Domain (TFD)
This noise-rejection technique is based on a proprietary implementation of the short Fourier transform technique. TFD allows for attenuation of anomalous amplitude spikes, noise bursts, air blast, swell noise, rig noise, pump noise, etc.

Wavelet Transform Filter (WTF)
This is a noise-rejection technique based on the discrete wavelet transform. In this domain, severe low-frequency linear noises contaminating the data can be separated and filtered.

3D FK
3D FK is a true three-dimensional frequency-wavenumber filter originally developed for hybrid gathers. In the 3D FK space, data is transformed to the (ω, kx, ky) space using a conical operator. Great care is taken to avoid aliasing and Gibbs effects.

3D Radon
Using a true 3D Radon filter, which was originally developed for hybrid gathers, 3D data (x, y, z) is transformed, using the discrete Radon transform, into the (τ, px, py) space. Filtering can be done in a Model/Pass or Apply/Reject mode.
